EVOLUTION OF POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE STATE OF JAMMU AND KASHMIR

Abstract

The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has a long and rich political history, likely to that of other Indian states. It is rich in the sense that, before to its amalgamation with the Union of India, the erstwhile state had a political awakening, particularly in the Kashmir area. However, following the signing of the Instrument of Accession, political mobilisation in the former state broadened significantly, resulting in the foundation of numerous political parties. Because of the collapse of the insurgency, the political structure of Jammu and Kashmir has been weakened.The paper's major goal is to investigate and analyse the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir's political history prior to the start of the insurgency. The purpose of this research is to look into the origins and ideologies of various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir. Secondary data was employed in this research. The information was gathered from books, research papers, and official sources.The paper is categorised into three sections, the first of which is a general introduction to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Second, political parties existed in Jammu and Kashmir prior to the insurgency. Third, Conclusion.
