Abstract

Shashi Deshpande is the renowned Indian feminist novelist of the Indian contemporary literature. Deshpande’s Binding vine shows the fear and oppression suffered domestically and also socially by women who are considered with unequal standard when it comes to equality, rights and also capacities. Women who have hurt much in their existence, they find resolution in their fight and power in their resistance. Women who have sacrifice their feelings, their emotions for the aim of the society but want to break out of that smother mould. Shashi deshpande’s work connecting sense between all the women characters, their life journey and the dilemmas they face in their everyday lives.

             The story is brave and hard-hitting explanation of the life of millions of Indian women who hurt forsakes suffering and even crimes in isolation, silence, and submission. The story foregrounds the subject of rape, violence, loss, etc but also commemorate the soul of women and a person who rise above their ordeals and attain liberation, success and even salvation. The study is an attempt to analyze the novel of Shashi Deshpande’s The Binding Vine about the women’s sufferings and their determination to reach into success.
