ATTITUDE AND PERCEPTION OF NURSING / MIDWIFERY MANAGERS TOWARD THE TRANSFORMATION IN MIDWIFERY PROFESSION IN SAUDI ARABIA
Abstract
: Nurses and midwives are central to Primary Health Care and are often the first and sometimes the only health professional that people see and the quality of their initial assessment, care and treatment is vital. The aim is: to conduct a survey study among nursing/midwifery managers in Saudi Arabia to measure their attitude and perceptions toward the transformation in midwifery profession in Saudi Arabia. Desing: A cross-sectional study design had been employed in this research. Setting: The study will be conducted in all hospitals of the Ministry of Health and its primary care centers in 13 administrative regions in KSA. Results: indicated that the main important factor affect attitude and perception of nursing/ midwifery managers toward the transformation in midwifery profession in Saudi Arabia are supporting stakeholders, including patients, healthcare organizations, and government agencies, creating attractive environment to encourage service providers and increase efficiency and effectiveness, increasing investment in Midwives' capabilities and opportunities for training and skills development, improving efficiency and creativity among employees, and enhancing job satisfaction according. Conclusions: Results concluded that the level of attitude and awareness of nursing/ midwifery managers toward the transformation in Midwifery profession in Saudi Arabia was moderate as most of respondents understand the goals and objectives of transformation, have the ability to provide guidance and support to midwives through the shift and transformation, willing to change current practices to accommodate changes in Midwifery. Recommendations: to conduct more future researches related to the national transformation programs for the health sector in KSA for achieving the goals of the kingdom vision 2030.
