DETERIORATION VERSUS SURVIVAL OF WOMEN DURING PARTITION IN SIDHWA’S ICE-CANDY-MAN

Abstract

This study aims to depict the women’s journey in BapsiSidhwa’sIce-Candy-Man. This will only be achieved by exhibiting their twofold depiction. The study shows how women are the victims of patriarchal tyranny, subordination, marginalisation, and sexual exploitation, before emphasising how they are not wholly victims in the novel. The silence of a woman fosters more exploitation and encourages her exploitation.
