LABORATORY MEDICINE AS THE FOUNDATION OF HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA: A NARRATIVE REVIEW AND THEMATIC ANALYSIS OF CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION, RADIOLOGY, PHARMACY, AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Abstract
The healthcare system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has undergone significant modernization in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes the development of a “preventive, integrated, and patient-centered” care model (Saudi Vision 2030, 2016). While advancements in medical infrastructure and digital health technologies are well-documented (Almalki, 2021), the role of laboratory medicine as the foundation of clinical decision-making remains understudied, particularly its interdisciplinary connections to emergency care, pharmacy, and radiology.
